In a bizarre twist, a middle-aged man was seen taking her away in the Yorktown neighborhood.

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington family is seeking the public's help in finding a dog who went missing while in the care of a pet sitter.
Sookie, a 7-year-old long-haired Dachsund mix, disappeared on Thursday, Aug. 17. She escaped from her pet sitter's house in Arlington that day and was seen headed north on George Mason Drive near 17th Street N, according to a Fox 5 DC report. She then crossed Lee Highway and Edison Street, wandering into the Yorktown neighborhood where she was cornered by two people.
When one of the people went into her house to get a leash, she returned to find that a third person had arrived and was holding Sookie, according to the report. The man left with the dog.
