Here’s How Much Virginians Spend on Home Decor
According to a new report, Virginians aren't spending much on home decor.

Compared to the national average sum that Americans set aside from home decor updates, refreshes, and renovations, Virginians are on the lower end of the spectrum. In some states, people are reported to be spending as much as 25% more than the national average on home decor, which is the range between $500-$1,000 annually.
In comparison to the national average, Virginia spends about 11.70% less than the national average on home decor, renovations, or updates each year. Some of the neighboring states like Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee also spend significantly less than the national average spent on home decor annually. In fact, Kentucky spends the second least amount of money on home decor by spending less than 18.42% of the national average. Kentucky is second only to Montana.
On the other hand, North Carolinians to the south spend quite a bit more than the national average, each year. To be exact, they spend 12.31% more on their decor. One of the reasons behind this, though, might be the fact that the North Carolina real estate scene is booming, with housing demands exceeding the available inventory. With people sprucing up their homes or building new homes, it’s likely that North Carolinians need to spend a little bit more money than other states in order to furnish their homes.

The same could be said of Indiana whose population spends the most on home decor each year, shelling out 25.28% more than the national average does. Again, their housing market is booming and the real estate market in Indiana is bustling, which is to say that new homeowners are probably furnishing their spaces. Especially with the amount of time people have had to spend at home over the last few weeks.
