Here's What's Open And Closed In Arlington On MLK Holiday
Many government offices and services in Arlington will be closed or on modified hours for the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
ARLINGTON, VA — Many people in Arlington will be giving back to the community by participating Day of Service activities on Monday in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Government offices, schools, transit and other services will be closed or modified for the the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Arlington County Government offices and services are operating on modified schedules for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Courts: The Arlington Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court will be closed Monday, Jan. 19.

Commissioner of the Revenue: Closed on Monday, Jan. 19.
Permitting and Inspection Services: Permit Arlington Center and phone lines will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19.
Parking: Permit parking is always in effect unless specifically noted on the sign. Meters are not enforced on holidays.
Libraries: Arlington Public Libraries are closed on Monday, Jan. 19.

Trash Pickup & Recycling:
- Recycling/Trash/Organics Curbside Routes – Regular collection
- Special Collections (Brush, Metal, E-waste) – Regular collection
- Household Hazardous Materials/Electronics Collection Recycling Center – Closed
- Earth Products Recycling Yard – Closed
Department of Motor Vehicles is closed on Monday, Jan. 19.

Metro: Metro Rail will operate on a weekend schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight. Metro Bus will operate on a Saturday Supplemental schedule. Metro Access customers may make reservations to travel; subscription trips will be canceled. On Saturday and Sunday, trains will single-track between Ballston-MU and East Falls Church to repair platform edge lighting. Trains will operate every 18 minutes.
Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs:
- All community centers except for the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness (LBAFC) are closed.
- Administrative offices closed.
- Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Animal Welfare League of Arlington: Closed to the public on Monday, Jan. 19.
Sheriff's Office: Detention Center Visiting Hours. Please note, no fingerprinting services will occur at the ACSO since courts are closed.
ABC Stores: All Virginia ABC stores will be open normal hours.
Post offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 19.
