Hillary Veepstakes: Clinton to Campaign With Sen. Tim Kaine Next Week
The former Virginia governor is reportedly on the short list of running mates for the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Will she or won't she select former Virginia governor and current U.S. Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate this fall? It's not quite clear yet, but presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be hitting the campaign trail with him next week.
Clinton will campaign in Northern Virginia on Thursday, July 14 with Kaine at a public Democratic Party of Virginia event, according to a statement from Hillary for America.
"The two will discuss their shared commitment to building an America that is strong together, while emphasizing that Donald Trump's divisive agenda would be dangerous for America," the statement notes, adding that additional details about the trip will be announced soon.

There has been rampant speculation that Kaine is on Clinton's short list of vice presidential candidate picks. Kaine served as governor of Virginia from 2006 to 2010, was appointed chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2009 to 2011, and has been Virginia's junior U.S. Senator since 2013.

Although Kaine has been criticized as a safe and even boring pick for Clinton's VP — as opposed to a candidate who would energize the progressive base like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat — he has also been lauded as a natural fit for Clinton who would appeal to some of Trump's base.
