Warriors and Generals both lose close battles

Wakefield 66, Stonewall Jackson 70

The Wakefield Warriors, advancing to the semi-finals with a thrilling 86-82 victory Osbourn Park on Monday, were unable to duplicate their late game heroics in yesterday's contest, losing 70-66 to Stonewall Jackson.  Deontae Murphy and Joao Remedios led the Warriors with 12 points apiece, and Aaron Forte and Corey Aldridge added 11 and 10, respectively.

The Warriors dug themselves into a big hole early, going into the halftime break down 42-24, but came roaring back in the second half to make a game of it.  In the end, they were unable to complete the big comeback, and Stonewall Jackson, led by Rodney Smith Jr.'s 21 points, held on for the four point victory.

Washington-Lee 61, Theodore Roosevelt 73

The Washington-Lee Generals, coming off Monday's 71-63 loss to Glenelg, put up another good fight against Theodore Roosevelt yesterday, but again came up short, falling 73-61.  Jack Beckman led the team with 15 points, including 3 3-pointers.  Freshman center Jonah Sens, who has had an excellent tournament, added 13 points down low.  Antione Ingram and Mohammed Jabbara scored 11 and 7, respectively.

The Generals hung tough in the first half, going into the break down 33-28, but in the second half Roosevelts balanced scoring attack, led by senior guard Ezell Stark's 21 points, was too much for the Generals to handle.  They will play today in the 7th place game at 1:00.
