Magnificent Movie Music! coming in May to Rosslyn Spectrum Theater

A great film score gets under your skin, triggers your subconscious, and enhances the drama. Come hear Rachel Franklin perform and explain!

The Arlington Philharmonic will host “Magnificent Movie Music,” a three-part multimedia lecture series presented by concert pianist and film music expert Rachel Franklin, DMA. The lectures will take place on Thursdays, May 4, 11, and 18 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, at the Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre in Arlington. Tickets are $25 per lecture or $60 for the series.

Using fascinating film clips, witty commentary, and stunning piano demonstrations, Dr. Rachel Franklin will delve into the hidden magic of some of the greatest film music ever composed and discuss the relationships between films and their scores. As she explains, “We frequently fall in love with a movie through its music. Film music can inspire and romance us. It can make emotional statements that a script simply cannot.” For descriptions of each individual lecture, and more information, visit the Philharmonic website at: http://arlingtonphilharmonic.org/MMM.html. Tickets can be purchased online for a single lecture or for all three at https://squareup.com/store/arlington-philharmonic/

Doors will open at 6:00 pm each evening for a Happy Hour where wine, beer, and snacks will be sold. The lectures are sponsored in part by the Crystal City Wine Shop and Deschutes Brewery and proceeds from this event will benefit the Arlington Philharmonic. The Spectrum Theatre is located at 1611 North Kent Street Arlington, VA. The theatre is accessible by Metro at the Rosslyn Station (Orange, Blue, and Silver lines; parking after 6 pm is free.)
