Man Arrested For Sexual Battery, Abduction Offense In Ballston
Arlington County Police arrested a man they say attempted to abduct and sexually assault a woman in a bathroom at a Ballston business.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police made an arrest Friday in connection with an attempted abduction and sexual assault of a woman inside a bathroom at a Ballston-area business Tuesday, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 1:12 p.m., Friday to the 4200 block of Wilson Boulevard, for the report of a suspicious man matching the description of the suspect wanted in Tuesday's assault. The officers took the man into custody without incident.
After an investigation by ACPD detectives, police arrested Demetrius Spencer-Coates, 30, of no fixed address, and charged him with abduction with intent to defile and sexual battery. He is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond.

ACPD officers were dispatched around 10:32 a.m., Tuesday, to a business in the 4200 block of Wilson Boulevard, for the report of an assault. They learned from the victim that she had been cleaning a bathroom inside the business around 9:47 a.m. when a man approached her and asked to use the facilities.
As the victim tried to move away from the stall, the man blocked her path, began pushing her inside, and slapped her buttocks. The victim resisted and called for help, which caused the suspect to back off and flee the area on foot.

Around 10:13 a.m., the victim was at a nearby closet when she heard noise coming from the area of the bathroom. Going to investigate, she discovered the man inside the bathroom once more. He tried to block the victim's path, pushed her back toward the closet, and slapped her buttocks again. After pushing her further into the closet, he grabbed her neck, and tried to close the door. The victim resisted and called for help, causing the suspect to leave the scene.
