ARLINGTON, VA — A 58-year-old man in custody was found unconscious Tuesday morning at Arlington County Detention Facility, according to a county release.

The man, whose identity was not released, was found unconscious around 6:30 a.m. in his cell in the facility's medical unit. Medical staff and sheriff's deputies began resuscitation efforts at once, which they continued until the arrival of Arlington County Fire & Rescue personnel. The man was taken to the Virginia Hospital Center for treatment. He is reported to be in stable condition.

“The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the highest level of care to individuals in our custody while ensuring transparency with the public related to operations inside the Detention Facility,” Sheriff Beth Arthur said, in a release.
