Man Dies After Collapsing in Detention Facility
48-year-old with history of medical issues found unconscious in a medical unit cell, according to Arlington County official.

A man serving a five-year sentence died Saturday after he was found unconscious in a medical unit cell at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
The 48-year-old had a history of medical issues, according to a statement by the Arlington County Police Department.
Sheriff’s deputies and nurses attempted to resuscitate the man until rescue units arrived and transported the him to Virginia Hospital Center. He was pronounced dead at 3:41 a.m.

The man was convicted last year of assault and battery–family member third offense, and was sentenced to five years.
An autopsy was planned Sunday by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
