Man Kicks Down Door, Threatens Arlington Woman Inside: ACPD

A man who forced his way into a Columbia Heights home and prevented a resident from calling 911 was arrested Wednesday night, police report.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 40-year-old man is facing a burglary charge after forcing his way into a Columbia Heights residence and threatening a woman inside the home on Wednesday night, according to authorities.

Arlington County police were dispatched shortly after 7:30 p.m. to investigate the report of a disorderly person at a home in the 2800 block of 19th Street South. Upon their arrival, the female resident told the the officers that a man gained entry into her home by kicking down the door, according to the incident report. When she tried to call police, the man grabbed her phone and threatened her.

The responding officers found the suspect at the scene and took him into custody, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Police arrested Craig McCall of an undetermined address and charged him with burglary, preventing a call to 911 and public intoxication, according to FCPD.

McCall was arraigned on Thursday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 24, according to court documents.

Additionally, McCall was cited on a felony charge of entering a house to commit assault and battery, court documents say. As of Wednesday afternoon, he remained in custody.
