Man Reentered U.S. Illegally Prior To Sexual Assault Conviction: Court
A man convicted in 2020 for aggravated the sexual battery of a 10-year-old family member was found guilty of reentering the U.S. illegally.
ARLINGTON, VA — On Wednesday, a federal jury convicted a 38-year-old Honduran man, who had previously been incarcerated at the Arlington County Adult Detention Center, with illegally returning to the United States.
On Feb. 7, 2020 Sergio Alberto-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual battery of a 10-year-old family member in the Circuit Court of Arlington County, according to court documents.
U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement learned June 24, 2020, that Alberto-Rodriguez was being held at the detention center, according to court records. He had been removed from the U.S. on Nov. 5, 2008. Federal officials took Alberto-Rodriguez into custody on Feb. 22 to be tried for reentering the country.

Alberto-Rodriguez will return to court on Sept.11 for sentencing. He faces up to two years in prison, a $250,000 fine and one year of supervised release, as well as possibly being deported, according to court documents.
