Mardi Gras Comes Early At Arlington Bakery

ARLINGTON, VA — In anticipation of Mardi Gras, Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery in Arlington will be offering Carnival-inspired confections, LIL' GRAS, every Tuesday and Thursday in the pastry case leading up to Fat Tuesday on. Feb. 17.

On Tuesdays, guests can sample a Carnival Cupcake, which is topped with Creole Cream Cheese and sweet sprinkles. Then on Thursdays, fan favorite flashback King Cruffin will return. The signature croissant-muffin hybrid that Chef David Guas debuted 10 years ago will be bedazzled in full Carnival attire and ready to reign supreme.

Guests need to act quickly if they want to sample these Mardi Gras treats. Only 25 of each will be backed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, with a limit of two Cupcakes or King Cruffins per guest. You better hurry, because they'll available only on first come, first served basis.

Bayou Bakery is Arlington's go-to Mardi Gras location. Guests can order a Carnival Classic King Cake or in two new flavors — decadent King Cocoa and the luscious Strawberry Swirl. Each cake will be accompanied by a tiny plastic baby, Mardi Gras Beads, and a history card, sharing the tradition of the King Cake. Cakes can be ordered online. Orders must be made 48 hours in advance. All sales are final.

Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery is located at 1515 North Courthouse Road in Arlington. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
