MD Man Killed, 2 Injured In Arlington Shooting: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — Homicide detectives from the Arlington County Police Department are investigating a shooting incident that happened early Sunday morning. Two people were injured and a Maryland man was killed, according to a police release. ACPD identified the deceased victim as Donovan A. Green Jr., 21, of Upper Marlboro.

Around 2:39 a.m., officers responded for the report of shots being fired and a large crowd dispersing outside a business in the 3000 block of Columbia Pike. The officers learned that two victims had arrived at a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that after a dispute between multiple parties the suspect entered his vehicle and fired shorts in the area of the crowd before fleeing the scene.

As the investigation continued, officers responded to the 3200 block of Columbia Pike, where they found Green inside a vehicle suffering from trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and nature of his death.

This is the third homicide in Arlington in 2020, and it remains an active investigation.
