I am writing on behalf of Metro to express our sincere apology for the inconveniences you experienced on the Metrorail system this week. We would like to offer you a small token of thanks for bearing with us as we resolved multiple disruptions and prepared the system for safe passenger service.

To express our gratitude for your ridership, Metro will issue a credit to everyone who used a SmarTrip card to travel on the Blue, Orange and Silver Lines between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. today. The credit will reimburse the cost of your travel and will be processed automatically to your SmarTrip card. No action is required by customers to receive the credit, and you can expect to receive the funds early next week when you tap your SmarTrip card at a Metro faregate or fare machine.

As an Orange Line commuter myself, I absolutely understand the frustration felt by our Blue, Orange and Silver Line customers. We strive to provide a higher level of service than you experienced this week, and we will continue working to offer safe and reliable transit service for all of our customers.

Thank you for riding Metro,
