Metro Safetrack Creates Huge Mess at Reagan Airport (Photos)
Riders are angry after three train loads of passengers were dumped on the Reagan Airport platform during Tuesday evening rush hour.
ARLINGTON, VA — Metro riders are furious after the latest SafeTrack "Surge" on the Yellow and Blue lines led to a huge debacle at Reagan National Airport on Tuesday evening at rush hour.
The latest Surge involves continuous single-tracking on the Yellow and Blue Lines over a 37-day period, from March 4 until April 9, in two phases: the first between the Braddock Road and Huntington/Van Dorn Street stations, and the second between King Street and Huntington.
On Tuesday evening, trains were reportedly dropping off their passengers at the Reagan Airport station just before Braddock Road, resulting in huge crowds on the platform who were forced to wait for another train.

Twitter user Jeffrey Bennett reported at 6:24 p.m. that there were three train loads of people waiting at the station to get on a Yellow Line to Huntington.
"Ridiculous. Train only went as far as Reagan National," he wrote. "Now we have to all get on another already crowded train."

Another Twitter user, Em Madden, tweeted at about the same time that the platform was "overcrowded," and called it an example of "horrid service."
