More Major Lane Closures On I-395 This Weekend
Drivers who are planning on using the highway this weekend may want to find an alternate route.

ARLINGTON, VA -- More major lane closures are planned for Interstate 395 this weekend, so consider some alternate routes if you have to travel in the area.
From 10 p.m. Friday until early Monday morning, crews will be working on bridges between the Springfield Interchange and the Washington, D.C. line, which means that travel may be reduced to one open northbound general purpose lane overnight and two lanes during the day, according to a statement from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
At least one HOV lane will remain open northbound for through traffic while the work is going, the statement adds.

This will be the fourth consecutive weekend that workers rehabilitate bridge decks as part of the 395 Express Lanes project.
"The HOV access ramps at Seminary Road and Shirlington Circle will be closed to northbound 395 traffic; access to northbound general purpose lanes from Seminary Road and Shirlington Circle will be available for all traffic heading to the Pentagon and Washington, DC," the statement reads. "The 395 Express Lanes, slated to open in late 2019, will extend the current lanes eight miles north to the D.C. line through a public-private partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation and Transurban. VDOT's Four-Mile Run bridge project is expected to be complete in Fall 2018."
