Police identified the deceased motorcyclist as 26-year-old Stevan Zikic of Alexandria. Following a preliminary investigation, police determined Zikic was traveling at a high rate speed when the motorcycle he was riding emerged from an alley on 23rd Street S. and onto Kenmore Street. He attempted to avoid striking the oncoming bus by laying the motorcycle down, which is how he ended up under the larger vehicle.
