National Night Out 2019: Find Your Event In Arlington

Neighborhoods around Arlington County will hold cookouts and block parties for National Night Out on Aug. 6.

ARLINGTON, MD — City agencies and neighborhoods throughout Arlington will participate in the 36th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event held in communities around the country.

About a dozen neighborhoods and groups throughout Arlington will turn their porch lights on and host block parties and cookouts in support of National Night Out. Joining them will be police officers, firefighters and other county personnel.

National Night Out is celebrated in many different ways, including block parties, cookouts, potluck suppers, ice cream socials and games for children

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), National Night Out aims at bringing awareness to crime prevention, generating support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, boosting neighborhood pride and partnerships with law enforcement, and sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.
