National Night Out 2019: Find Your Event In Arlington

ARLINGTON, MD — City agencies and neighborhoods throughout Arlington will participate in the 36th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event held in communities around the country.

About a dozen neighborhoods and groups throughout Arlington will turn their porch lights on and host block parties and cookouts in support of National Night Out. Joining them will be police officers, firefighters and other county personnel.

National Night Out is celebrated in many different ways, including block parties, cookouts, potluck suppers, ice cream socials and games for children

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), National Night Out aims at bringing awareness to crime prevention, generating support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, boosting neighborhood pride and partnerships with law enforcement, and sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.

Here are the Arlington communities set to participate. Locations and times are subject to change.

• The Arlington Condominiums Homeowners Association, 2800 S. Wakefield St., 7-8:30 p.m.
• Barcroft Community House, 800 S. Buchanan St., 7-8:30 p.m.
• Cathcart Springs HOA, 4602 4th Rd. N., 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Claremont Civic Association, 23rd Street South at South Buchanan Street, 6:30-9 p.m.
• Bailey’s Branch Park, 990 S. Columbus St., 7-8:30 p.m.
• Crystal City BID and Crystal City Civic Association, 1601 Crystal Dr., 6-9 p.m.
• Dorothy Hamm Middle School Community Walk, 4100 Vacation Lane, 6-9 p.m.
• Fort Henry Gardens, 2470 S. Lowell St., 6-7 p.m.
• Drew Model Elementary School, 3500 23rd St. S., 5-7 p.m.
• John M. Langston Civic Association, 2100 block of North Emerson Street, 6-9 p.m.
• Park Glenn Condominiums, 800 block of Arlington Mill Drive South, 6:30-8 p.m..
