National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Virginia

Here we go again: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire metro DC region. The advisory is in effect from midnight Wednesday night until noon on Thursday.

The advisory is for snow, with the weather service forecasting that the area could see 1-2 inches of snow, which is a higher amount than previously noted Wednesday morning, according to NWS.

The timing looks like this: It should fall in the overnight hours through late morning, with the heaviest snow falling during the morning commute, according to the weather service.

The advisory covers the entire area, including the Northern Virginia suburbs, the District of Columbia as well as the Maryland suburbs of DC, according to NWS.

The NWS says that roads will be snow-covered and slippery. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-20s.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will make it difficult to travel on roads and make it hard to see, according to NWS. Drivers are cautioned to be careful if they get out on the roads.
