New Amazon Fresh, With 'Just Walk Out' Technology, Coming To Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Amazon Fresh will be opening a new location in Arlington in a few weeks, offering customers Just Walk Out Shopping, which gives customers the option to skip the checkout line, the company said Thursday.

Customers can also take advantage of a coupon found in their weekly circular for $10 off an order of $20 or more for shopping trips made at the store. Customers may use the paper coupon at the Just Walk Out exit or at the traditional checkout.

The store will be located at 1550 Crystal Drive in Crystal City, near Amazon's HQ2 in Arlington. The store's hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The grocery store also opened a new location in Manassas on Thursday and is opening a new store in Lorton on June 23. In April, Amazon Fresh opened a new location in Fairfax City.

Amazon Fresh has a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat and seafood, as well as a many prepared foods made fresh in store every day, from fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas to rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches like a brisket panini.

The store offers 365 by Whole Foods Market organics, plus national brands like Coca-Cola and Kraft Mac and Cheese; local brands like Mason Dixie Biscuits, Bread Furst Bakery, and Taharka Brothers Ice Cream, and regional favorites like Duke’s Mayo, Ellenos Yogurt and Boston Chowda.

Customers who opt for Just Walk Out Shopping can enter the store by scanning the in-store QR code in their Amazon app, using Amazon One, or inserting a credit or debit card to open the Just Walk Out gates. Once inside the store, customers can shop like normal. Anything they take off the shelf is automatically added to their virtual cart, and anything they put back on the shelf comes out of their virtual cart.

At the end of their trip, customers shopping with the Just Walk Out experience simply scan or insert their entry method again to exit.

Amazon Fresh accepts cash, SNAP/EBT, credit or debit card, or customers can use the In-Store QR code in the Amazon app.
