What’s in store weatherwise for New Year’s Eve? According to the National Weather Service, Northern Virginia will see lower temperatures and mostly clear skies.
Rain chances are high throughout the week but diminish as we get closer to New Year’s Eve, with no mention of rain for Thursday or Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
- Monday: Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Cooler with highs in the upper 40s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
- Monday Night: Rain in the evening...then showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 40s. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
- Tuesday: Rain likely. Highs around 60. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
- Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows around 50.
- Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Highs around 60.
- Wednesday Night: Showers likely. Lows around 50. Chance of rain 70 percent.
- Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 50s.
- Thursday Night (New Year’s Eve): Mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s.
- New Years Day: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
- Friday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s.
- Saturday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
