Newk's Eatery Coming to Arlington

A new report indicates that a red-hot restaurant chain is opening several locations in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA — Newk's Eatery, a casual restaurant chain that offers salads, pizzas and sandwiches, has exploded in the Southeastern United States since it was founded in 2004, and now they're pushing north into the D.C. area with 10 new restaurants in Arlington and Fairfax counties, according to a report.

The Jackson, Miss.-based chain, which operates more than 100 restaurants nationwide, has signed an agreement with a local restaurant operator that has managed Five Guys Burgers and Fries outlets in the area, Washington Business Journal is reporting.

The first location would open next year, and the other nine would open over the next six years, according to the report.

We don't know where the exact locations will be for any of the stores yet, but Ballston, Clarendon, Rosslyn, Shirlington and Crystal City are likely prime candidates.

The restaurant chain is expanding rapidly and hopes to open 200 locations by 2019.
