People Will Be Rappelling Down a Building in Crystal City This Weekend [VIDEO]

No, it's not a black ops training exercise -- it's an effort to raise money to fight brain cancer.

ARLINGTON, VA — If you see people rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency Crystal City this weekend, don't be alarmed -- what you're watching is actually a fundraising challenge to fight brain cancer.

Participants are raising a minimum of $2,000 to rappel down the side of the Hyatt at 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway on Sept. 18, and organizers are planning on making it an annual event, according to the event's website, which still offers an opportunity to register.

Called "Over the Edge for Brain Cancer," the event takes place in multiple cities and encourages participants to test the "limits of your comfort zone."

The charity says that the survival rate for malignant brain tumor patients is just 34.4 percent, and brain cancer is the second most common form of childhood cancer. There are few drugs to treat it and just one device, and the hope is that by raising funds to fight the disease, more options will become available to sufferers.

As of the morning of Sept. 14, the event had raised $68,714, or 54 percent of the goal.
