Man Falls To Death In Arlington As US Marshals, Loudoun Deputies Attempt To Make Arrest

ARLINGTON, VA — A man died Friday morning when the U.S. Marshals Service was attempting to serve an arrest warrant in an apartment building near Columbia Pike in Arlington, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

A U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force knocked and announced themselves at an apartment in the Infinity Apartments complex at 955 S. Columbus St. in the Columbia Forest neighborhood, police said. A man inside the apartment then attempted to leave the apartment through a window and fell, according to police.

The task force consisted of members from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. They were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at the residence related to a robbery that occurred in Loudoun County, police said.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, Arlington County Police and Fire were dispatched to the apartment complex for a report of cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, a man was located unresponsive outside the building. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. Arlington County Police did not release the name of the man who died Friday.

ARLnow reported Friday that the man who fell from the building was impaled on a fence. When Arlington police and medics were dispatched to the scene, they were told to expect plain-clothed U.S. Marshals Service personnel on the scene, according to the report.

The circumstances of the fall remain under investigation, according to police.
