Arlington Police Accuse Tow Truck Driver of Stealing Stuff From Cars
A tow truck driver was stopped by police over the weekend after an "improper tow," police said.

Police have arrested a tow truck driver who they believe was pilfering valuables from vehicles.
Police made a traffic stop on a tow truck driver at about 5 a.m. March 20 "who was determined to be in possession of numerous stolen items," according to the Arlington County Police report.
The driver, 35-year-old Philip Garfield Pierce of Arlington, apparently had been swiping valuables including electronics from cars, and he was in the midst of an "improper tow" when police pulled him over, said police spokesperson Ashley Savage. Police also got a tip from the owner of the tow company.

As far as whether he was stealing items from cars he was towing, Savage said police were still investigating that. "Some of the victims did not have their cars towed," she said.
Pierce faces charges of grand larceny auto, three counts of grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools and possession of marijuana. He is currently being held without bond.
