Police: Mom Injured While Protecting Son in Knife Assault

Arlington County Police released its most recent crime report on Friday:

MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY MOB, 150507051, 2300 block of N. 11th Street. At 6:47 pm on May 7, three subjects forced their way inside of an apartment while brandishing knives in attempt to assault a 20 year-old male as he was thought to be dating the ex-girlfriend of one of the subjects. When the mother of the 20 year-old male intervened she was assaulted by the suspects, sustaining several facial injuries. She was transported to Virginia Hospital Center. The suspects fled the scene towards Courthouse Metro Station and were located by police. Kyre Johnson, 19, of Washington, DC, along with Tyrek Johnson, 18, of Washington, DC, and William Jenkins-Morton, 18, of Washington, DC, were arrested and charged with malicious wounding by mob and burglary with the intent to commit assault. They were held without bond.
