Police: Single Mom Death Now a Murder Investigation

The investigation of the death of Bonnie D. Black, 42, the mom found dead in her home Friday morning, is now a homicide investigation, an Arlington County Police spokesman said Monday.

Black, the mother of two, was stabbed, according to spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

Black was reportedly in the midst of a divorce; her husband is currently not considered a suspect, Sternbeck said. He lives nearby and is cooperating with police, Sternbeck said.

Arlington County Police are investigating the “suspicious death” Friday morning of a single mother in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood of the country, in South Arlington.

A neighbor contacted police when they found the woman’s two children, a boy, 3 and a girl, 5, wandering outside in their pajamas at about 7:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of 18th Street South, according to Dustin Sternbeck, a police spokesman.

In an on-air report at 5 p.m., NBC-4 identified the woman as Bonnie Black, 42, a contractor for the FBI. Her LinkedIn profile notes that she is a psychologist who worked for SAVA, which was recently awarded a contract to provide Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the areas of intelligence, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal investigations to assist the FBI in the execution of their day-to-day activities.

ARLnow reported earlier in the day that the woman’s name is Bonnie Delgado. Whitepages identifies a woman on 18th Street South as Bonnie D. Black.

NBC-4 noted that Black was going through a divorce and that police have taken her husband’s truck away. The husband reportedly lives nearby, the station reports.

Police have been at the scene all day trying to collect evidence to identify a suspect as they investigate the death, Sternbeck said.

The two children were transported away from the scene by personnel from the county’s Child Protective Services and are in a “safe, comfortable” environment, according to Sternbeck.
