School Canceled At Washington-Liberty; No Evidence Of Shooter Found By Police
After searching Washington-Liberty High School Wednesday morning, Arlington County Police found no evidence of a shooter.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington Public Schools decided to cancel school for students at Washington-Liberty High School on Wednesday morning, according to a post on APS' official Twitter account. Earlier in the day, the school had been on lockdown for several hours due to a police investigation.
Walkers were dismissed and bus riders were being picked up and taken home, according to APS' tweet. Car riders were also being allowed to be picked up. Car riders who had not been picked were taken to Dorothy Hamm Middle School, where parents were able to pick them up starting at 10:30 a.m. Students at the Career Center will be dropped off at their bus stops.

Arlington County Police gave the all-clear at Washington-Liberty, which had been locked down earlier Wednesday morning for a possible active shooter on campus, according to a 9:54 a.m. post on the department's official Twitter account.
"No evidence of a shooting was located and there is no apparent ongoing threat to public safety. Officers remain on scene," the tweet said.

Washington-Liberty officials contacted police after receiving an anonymous phone call reporting that a shooter was at the school. Police were dispatched to the school just before 8 a.m., according to an ACPD Twitter post.
Out of an abundance of caution, Arlington Public Schools placed the school on lockdown while police conducted their search, said Ashley Savage, a police public information officer. No gunshots had been reported.
APS shared the following information in a 9 a.m. post on its official Twitter account:
"We received an anonymous call this morning during arrivals claiming there was a shooter in the building. while there is no evidence of an immediate threat, we immediately locked the building down and notified the Arlington County Police Department. The ACP is on the scene investigating to ensure the building is safe. All students are in a secure location. Students arriving have been temporarily moved to a safe location offsite while the ACPD conduct their investigation."
