President Obama Plans to Raise Federal Worker Pay: Report

The Washington Post reports that Obama plans to hike federal worker pay next year.

President Obama plans to hike federal workers’ pay next year, according to a report out Wednesday afternoon from The Washington Post.

The Post said the President plans to include an average 1.6 percent raise in his fiscal 2017 budget proposal.

About 14 percent of the workforce in the DC metro area works for the federal government, according to a 2013 report by Government Executive. In 2014, federal civilian workers had an average wage of $84,153, according the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
