Pupatella Pizzeria To Open Second Arlington Location This Week

The Neapolitan-style pizzeria opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Arlington in 2010, according to reports.

ARLINGTON, VA — Neapolitan-style pizzeria Pupatella is expected to open its second Arlington location this week. The new location at 1621 S. Walter Reed Dr. — formerly an Ethiopian restaurant — is just off South Glebe Road, not far from Army Navy Country Club and the Arlington Cinema Draft House, according to reports.

Partner Anastasiya Laufenberg told ARLNow that she and pizza maker Enzo Algarme are training staff and “should” start selling pizza there this week. Pupatella currently has two additional locations in Richmond and Glen Allen, Virginia, and is planning another in Reston.

In 2018, The Daily Meal called Pupatella pizza "the Commonwealth's best." It was also listed among the website's 101 best pizzas in America. Pupatella originally started as a food truck in 2007 before moving to a brick-and-mortar location in 2010.

Born and raised in Naples, Italy, Algarme moved to the U.S. and was driven to open a pizzeria where he would make pizzas the way they are made by Neapolitans. Algarme trained in pizza making in Naples and uses ingredients imported from the Italian city in making his well-loved Margherita.

Pupatella's flagship restaurant is at 5104 Wilson Blvd.
