Purse-Snatcher Knocks Down Woman Along Columbia Pike: Police

A woman was pushed to the ground and had her purse stolen Friday evening while walking along Columbia Pike in Arlington, police said.

ARLINGTON, VA — A woman was pushed to the ground and had her purse stolen Friday evening while walking along Columbia Pike near the intersection with S. Greenbrier Street, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The suspect stole the contents of the woman’s purse, including an undisclosed amount of cash and a set of keys, police said. The victim was evaluated by medics on the scene.

Arlington County Police were dispatched to the scene around 7:20 p.m. on Friday. When they arrived, police learned that shortly before 7 p.m., an unknown man pushed the woman to the ground and stole her purse. The man then fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a slender Black man with dreadlocks in a ponytail wearing a black baseball cap, beige shirt and sunglasses.
