Remy on.. The Metro

GoRemy has another hit on his hands.

I sat down with Remy of the "Arlington Rap" to discuss his new song and video about the Metro. Stay tuned to Ballston Patch for more with Remy in the upcoming weeks about his record with Comedy Central.

Patch: What was your inspiration for Metro Song?

Remy: In a word?  Demagnetization.  No, I'm kidding.  Sort of.  Riding the Metro, especially during commuting hours, is a very quirky experience.  I think anyone who has taken the Metro has thought "boy, someone should write a song about this!"  I guess I just have a lot more free time than those people.

P: How long did it take you to put it together?

R: I actually wrote the song last winter.  Comedy Central Records is releasing this album, "The Falafel Album," so I had to record a bunch of songs prior to the release.  This was one of the first ones I wrote for it.  It was filmed during a weekend in July, and I reshot some scenes this past weekend.

P: Funniest thing that happened to you during filming?

R: I was filming myself on an escalator when a pretty girl walked past.  She said "that's so cool."  I excitedly looked over and said "thanks!"  She was being sarcastic.

P: What is your favorite part of the video?

R: There is a part where I play a tourist slowly walking off an escalator.  I got to wear pink floral shorts, hiked up socks, and discharge two disposable cameras--one of which went off in my face.  I wish I could do that in every video.

P: What is your favorite video you've done?

R: Probably the first video I ever made, "Macaca Blues," since I was just so happy I figured out how to make a video.  But one of the upcoming releases on this new album, "The Falafel Album," is up there.  I made a song called "Saudis in Audis."  It's so ridiculous that it's right up there.  I hope folks will like it too.
