Request Special Election Ballot Before June 30 Deadline

Arlington residents only have a few days left to request an absentee mail-in ballot to vote in the July 7 special election.

ARLINGTON, VA — Time is running out for Arlington residents to request a mail-in absentee ballot for the July 7 special election to fill the vacant County Board seat. The deadline to request a ballot is June 30.

Absentee voting has already started for the special election. Voters can request a mail-in absentee ballot on the Virginia State Board of Elections website.

Visit the Arlington Board of Elections website to find more information about election requirements, Board candidates, or drop-off locations for completed ballots. Completed absentee ballots must be submitted by 7 p.m. on July 7. In person voting is available July 7, from 6 a.m.-7 p.m.

Earlier voting is available Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m; and Saturday, July 4, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Bozman Government Center (Courthouse Plaza), 2100 Clarendon, Blvd. July 4 is the last day for early voting and there is no voting on July 3.

The special election is taking place to fill the vacancy on the County Board created by the untimely death of former Board member Erik Gutshall. He stepped down from the Board in April and died a short time later following a brief illness.
