Resident Startled By Men Climbing Ladder Placed Against House In Arlington

The would-be burglars fled after being confronted by the resident.

ARLINGTON, VA — A resident awoke to two men climbing a ladder that was placed against the house early Tuesday morning, police say.

Police were called to the 5400 block of 8th Road S at around 11:03 a.m. on Aug. 8 to a report of a breaking and entering, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"Upon arrival, it was determined that between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on August 8, a resident awoke to a noise outside their window," the report states. "The resident observed an unknown male suspect climbing a ladder that was placed under a window. A second unknown male suspect was holding the base of the ladder. The suspects fled the area in a red pickup truck after being confronted by the resident."

Police described the suspect on the ladder as a white male between 20 and 40 years old. The investigation is ongoing.
