Residential Burglary, Stolen Vehicle Lead To Arrest Of Juvenile
Arlington County Police arrested a juvenile in connection with a series of property-related crimes on Saturday morning.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with a series of property-related crimes that took place Saturday morning in the High View Park area, according to a police release. Police charged the juvenile with conspiracy to commit a felony, burglary, eluding, and motor vehicle theft.
Officers responded around 5:07 a.m. to the 2000 block of N. Cameron Street for the report of vehicle tampering. The person who summoned police said they had seen four people associated with a Chevrolet Camaro trying the door handles of parked vehicles in the area.
One of the responding officers located the Camaro and two other vehicles following closely behind. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the the drivers ignored the officer's signal and left the area at a high rate of speed.

Other officers tried to stop the vehicles on N. Culpeper Street, when the driver of a sedan with temporary Maryland tags accelerated toward them and tried to strike an officer who was on foot. The sedan crashed into a police cruiser. No officers were reported injured.
The suspects then fled onto Lee Highway, where other officers began to pursue them. The Camero crashed into the median in the 2400 block of Washington Boulevard. Police apprehended the driver after chasing them briefly on foot.

Police identified the third vehicle involved as a black Mercedes, which was located unoccupied in the 100 block of N. Edgewood Street. Officers combed the area with aerial support from the U.S. Park Police, but they were unable to locate the driver.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Camaro had been taken earlier in the morning from the 900 block of N. Livingston Street and cash had been reported stolen from another vehicle on N. Livingston Street. Police determined the Mercedes had been stolen from a residence in the 1800 block of N. Cameron Street. The victim told police that the suspects had gained access to the garage by entering another unlocked vehicle and using the garage door opener found there. Once inside, the suspects took a purse, which contained keys to the Mercedes.
ACPD is working to determine if this case is related to a similar residential burglary that took place on Friday. In that incident, officers were dispatched around 9:59 a.m., for the report of a burglary in the 2300 block of N. Quebec Street. Police established that around 5 a.m., suspects entered the residence through an open garage door, stole wallets, cash, and vehicle keys. The suspects then fled with the victim's 2021 white Mercedes.
