Here are some local events and activities around Arlington to help you get into the holiday spirit.

ARLINGTON, VA — Even though many early birds were putting up their Christmas lights the day after Halloween — if they waited that long — Thanksgiving is generally considered the unofficial start of the holiday season.
As the weather gets colder and the shoppings malls become more crowded, many Arlington residents look forward to taking some time to enjoy their favorite holiday activities.
Here are some of the holiday events happening in November and December in the Arlington:

Pre-Thanksgiving Happy Hour: Wednesday, Nov. 24, 3-8 p.m., at WHINO, 4238 Wilson Blvd. Enjoy drinks, dancing and music the night before turkey day. DJ Smoky will be spinning tunes from 6 p.m.-2 a.m.

Arlington Turkey Trot 16th Annual Fun Run: Thursday, 8 a.m., at Christ Church-Arlington, 3020 N Pershing Drive. Registration for the run is closed, but people are encouraged to cheer on participants or donate to the the run's fundraising effort.
Thanksgiving Day Potluck: Thursday, Nov. 25, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at John Lyon VFW Post 3150, 2116 19th St. N.
Light Up Arlington-Clarendon Menorah Lighting: Tuesday, Nov. 30, 6 p.m., Chabad Lubavitch of Alexandria-Arlington, 1307 N Highland St., Arlington. Enjoy lights, Chanukah music and food and drinks. Limited capacity, registration required. Free.
Chanukah on Ice 2021: Thursday, Dec. 2, 6-8 p.m., Pentagon Row Outdoor Ice Skating, 1201 S Joyce St. Prepay $10 by Nov. 25, after that date, $13. Enjoy the lighting of a six-foot Menorah and skate with family and friends.
Light up the Village: Thursday, Dec. 2, 6-8 p.m., at the Village at Shirlington, 2700 S Quincy St. Enjoy holiday lights; horse and carriage rides; performances from Signature Theatre; caroling from Obbigato Music and Bishop O'Connell High School. In addition, you can Sip, Stroll around the village, tasting food and beverages while shopping.
2021 Jingle Bell Run: Saturday, Dec. 4, 8 a.m., at Westpost, 1101 S Joyce St.
Holiday Bazaar: Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Washington-Liberty High School, 1301 N. Stafford St. Purchase holiday gifts in the covered parking decks next to the school. Free.
Stuff the Sleigh: Friday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-4 p.m, at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, 2650 S Arlington Mill Drive. Help AWLA stuff the sleigh with donations of items on its holiday wishlist.
Holiday Wreath Market: Friday, Dec. 17, 4-7 p.m., and Saturday Dec. 18, 12-7 p.m., at Ballston Exchange, 4201 Wilson Blvd. Celebrate the holiday season at Ballston's first Holiday Wreath Market. Buy holiday wreaths $45 decorated and $20 undecorated. Enjoy hot chocolate and other beverages.
