Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For DC, 13 Virginia Jurisdictions
BREAKING: Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible across DC and Virginia, the National Weather Service advises.

WASHINGTON, DC — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. for Washington, DC, and parts of Northern Virginia. Damaging wind gusts and hail are possible, according to the watch.
Included in the watch area are Arlington, City of Alexandria, City of Fairfax, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford.
This includes the cities of Chantilly, Charles Town, Charlottesville, Cumberland, Dahlgren, Fairfax, Fallston, Falmouth, Fort Ashby, Fredericksburg, Front Royal, Frostburg, Herndon, Leesburg, Madison, Manassas, Manassas Park, Martinsburg, Mclean, Shenandoah, Shepherdstown, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Staunton, Sterling, Warrenton, Washington, and Woodbridge.

Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible and so are isolated instances of hail up to 1 inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms. Also under the watch are parts of Maryland, D.C., North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
