Severe Weather Prompts Ground Stop, Delays At NoVA Airports
A ground stop was issued at one airport while another was reporting average flight delays of 45 minutes.
Severe weather moving through the region prompted a ground stop and delays at two Northern Virginia airports on Wednesday.
Around 3 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Dulles International Airport due to thunderstorms.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the region. At 3:15 p.m., forecasters said a severe thunderstorm was located near Purcellville and Leesburg, moving east at 25 mph.

The NWS said 60 mph wind gusts are possible as the storm moves through.
Meanwhile, Reagan National Airport also reported ground delays on Wednesday afternoon due to severe weather. As of 3:30 p.m., flights at the airport were reporting an average delay of 45 minutes.
