Shoplifter Bites Store Employee in Ballston, Then Flees with Merchandise: Police

Police say the employee tried to stop the shoplifter, but after biting he managed to get away.

ARLINGTON, VA — A shoplifter bit a store employee as he tried to leave with merchandise, fleeing after a brief struggle.

Police were called to the 700 block of N. Glebe Road at around 1:19 p.m. Jan. 25 to a report of a shoplifter, and discovered that an employee at the store tried to stop a man who was shoplifting when a struggle ensued, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

The shoplifter bit the employee during the struggle, and then fled the scene with merchandise, the report states.

Police described the suspect as a "a black male in his late twenties, approximately 5’8”-6’2” tall and weighed 160-200 lbs. He was wearing blue jeans and a collared shirt at the time of the incident."

The employee was treated on the scene by medics, and the investigation is ongoing.
