ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a 27-year-old Maryland woman in Pentagon City on Wednesday in connection with a vehicle and firearm that had been reported stolen.

Around 11:34 a.m., officers responded to a request for assistance from a Public Service Aid in the 500 block of 12th Street S. A vehicle parked there was displaying fraudulent tags and a concealed vehicle identification number. Searching the vehicle, police discovered a firearm with an extended magazine on the driver's floorboard.

During the investigation, a woman approached the officers and asked why the vehicle was being towed. She told police that she was the operator of the vehicle. Police had determined that the vehicle and firearm were reported stolen out of Maryland. When they attempted to take the woman into custody, she tried to flee and resisted arrest. In the process, she struck an officer in the face, according to police.
