Stolen Vehicle Recovered; Suspect Arrested After Short Chase

Arlington County Police apprehended a suspect Saturday night and recovered a stolen vehicle from D.C.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police apprehended a suspect Saturday night and located a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen in Washington, D.C., according to the daily crime report.

Around 11:46 p.m, an officer on patrol was alerted to an LPR (license plate recognition) hit on a vehicle that had been reported stolen in D.C. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver eluded, before eventually stopping at the intersection of 9th Street S. and S. Oakland Street.

Four occupants exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Three of the suspects were apprehended by arriving officers and a helicopter responded to help in the search for the fourth suspect.

A vehicle entered the perimeter of the area officers were conducting their search. A passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle matched the description of the fourth suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.

Three of the occupants of the stolen vehicle were released, with charges expected to be filed at a later date. The driver, whom the police identified as Avery Robinson, was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon, possession of stolen goods, eluding and obstruction of justice. Robinson was held on a secured bond.
