Fireworks Thrown Into Mosque Parking Lot

A man threw fireworks into the parking lot of a mosque located in Bailey’s Crossroads off of Leesburg Pike early Thurday, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police said the incident took place at the mosque, located in the 3100 block of Row Street near Seven Corners, at around 3 a.m. Thursday.

A man approached the mosque, threw fireworks into the parking lot and damaged the fence to the property, police said.

Three members of the mosque challenged the man and after a brief altercation, the suspect walked away from the property, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and the members of the mosque are known to each other and there does not appear to be any public threat, police said.

The case remains under investigation.
