Suspected Narcotics Seized Near Arlington Elementary School: Police

Police found suspected narcotics while making an arrest near an Arlington County elementary school on Monday, authorities say.

ARLINGTON, VA — During a Monday morning arrest near an Arlington County elementary school, police seized a distribution amount of suspected narcotics and evidence of the sale of narcotics, according to authorities.

Officers were dispatched around 10:45 a.m. to the 32o0 block of 24th Street South to investigate the report of a burglary. The victim told police that he'd found his apartment door damaged, looking as if someone had forced their way inside, according to the incident report. Police spotted several people exit the apartment and tun off.

"Following a foot pursuit, officers detained one juvenile male suspect who was wearing a face mask in the area of Drew Elementary School," according to police. "During the course of the investigation, distribution amounts of suspected narcotics and evidence of the sale of narcotics were covered. The suspect also provided officers with false personal identification information while in custody."

Police obtained petitions for the juvenile suspect for unlawful entry, obstruction of justice, possession with intent to distribute controlled substance, selling drugs on/near school property, giving false identity to law enforcement and wearing a mask in a public place, according to ACPD.
