Thank You Team in Training

Today is about my team.
We have all joined Team in Training for different reasons.
We run for our moms and dads, our grandparents, our friends and other family members. But, with each mile, and with each goal, it's just not possible without the team.

Together, we have raised more than $550,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We have a mission to wipe out blood cancers, and with every dollar and every mile, we are getting closer to a cure.

Today, I want to thank all my fellow runners. I couldn't have made the 13-mile trek on the W&OD Trail in Reston without Elizabeth keeping pace with me along the way. Casey is hilarious and keeps the group laughing throughout the course. I'm thankful I was able to keep up with his crew -- if only for a little while. They are the fast ones!

Coach Skye prepared us well this week during our speed workout and helped us see that even when we are tired and out of breath, we can still run farther than we think.

And really, the aches and pains we may feel pale in comparison to the pain felt by those we run this race for. Whenever I get tired, I just think about my cousin who went through years of treatments, radiation and chemotherapy.
Thankfully, she has now been in remission for eight years but there are many who can't say the same.

The Team in Training is an amazing organization that has raised $1.4 billion to fight this battle against blood cancer.

Special thanks to all my teammates who are contributing to this cause, running beside me, cheering "Go Team!" along the way.

I couldn't do it without you.
