Traffic Advisory: I-395 Exit to Close Sunday and Monday
VDOT will close ramp for paving and lane striping.

In the overnight hours on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 2-3, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the ramp from I-395 North to Washington Boulevard, at Exit 8A, for paving and lane striping, according to VDOT.
The ramp will close at 9 p.m. each night, and will reopen by no later than 5 a.m. the following morning. For motorists heading west on Washington Boulevard, the following detour will be in place:

I-395 North, exit onto Army Navy Drive at exit 8A, continue on Army Navy Drive ramp lane, turn right on S. Joyce Street, right on Columbia Pike to an immediate right onto Washington Boulevard (see map).
Motorists are urged to use caution and follow the signed detour. Police will be on site for traffic control and to ensure motorists’ safety. This work is weather dependent, with Aug. 3-4 as backup nights.

The ramp, which has been reconfigured into a single-lane ramp to improve traffic flow and safety, is part of the Route 27/244 Interchange Modifications project, which is schedule to be completed this fall. This interchange project replaces the Washington Boulevard Bridge over Columbia Pike in Arlington.
