Trick-Or-Treat: When, Where To Get Halloween Candy In Arlington
This Halloween, little ghosts and goblins will head around the neighborhood for trick-or-treat and various trunk-or-treat events.
ARLINGTON, VA — Expect more trick-or-treaters out on Halloween night as health guidance for the holiday looks different from last year.
Arlington County does not set a specific time for trick-or-treat, but residents should expect the candy crusade to coincide with the sunset, which on Oct. 31, will be just after 6 p.m.

Last year, Arlington County recommended against traditional trick-or-treating in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. In 2021, while it is feeling a step closer to normal, there are still some things to keep in mind to help minimize COVID-19 risk, according to Arlington County.
When trick-or-treating, the Virginia Department of Health encourages staying outside, bringing hand sanitizer, and for unvaccinated children to wear a mask, or have one with them in case they visit crowded locations.

If you’re planning to hand out candy this year, it is recommended that you stand at least six feet away from the candy bowl, consider wearing a mask and encourage kids to choose sweets one at a time.
Residents who hand out candy are encouraged to set up an area outside for candy. Candy can be spaced out so multiple people don't reach into the same bowl, or creative ideas like a candy chute can be used.
