Try Hockey for Free Day Saturday at Three Northern Virginia Locations

Event is geared for boys and girls ages 4 to 9. Kids do not need any previous skating or hockey experience.

The Washington Capitals along with several Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia-area rinks will participate in USA Hockey’s Try Hockey for Free Day, presented by Kraft on Saturday, Nov. 8, according to a news release from the Caps.

Children ages 4 to 9 can try out ice hockey for free Saturday (times weren’t available but call or email at the contact information listed below or register at the link below). A limited amount of equipment is available to borrow. Top coaches will be on the ice to assist your child in learning the basics. Your son or daughter does not need any previous skating or hockey experience.

The event will help kick off the fourth annual Come Play Hockey Month, which takes place during the entire month of November.

Nearly 500 rinks across the country will invite boys and girls ages four to nine years old to “Try Hockey for Free” with clinics aimed to help kids experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe environment.

Entering its fifth season, USA Hockey’s national Try Hockey For Free Days, presented by Kraft, have introduced more than 70,000 children to the sport, including a record 28,446 in 2013-14. Try Hockey For Free Day is part of Come Play Hockey Month.

Come Play Hockey Month is a component of the NHL’s Hockey is for Everyone™ (HIFE) program, which provides children of all backgrounds the opportunity to play hockey. Total Hockey is an official sponsor of Try Hockey for Free Days. USA Hockey has 500 locations offering this unique opportunity to kids nationwide.
