VDOT Video Shows Arlington County: Then and Now
See what the area looked like 65 years ago.
Ever wonder what Arlington County used to look like? In 1949, the Virginia Department of Highways, now VDOT, did a traffic study along Route 29 in Arlington. A few years ago, VDOT discovered an old reel of 16mm film taken during the study. VDOT shot a drive-along of the Lee Highway in 2014 to show how this busy corridor has grown in the past 65 years.
