Vehicle Flies Off Overpass Near Pentagon, Plunges 50 Feet to Street Below

A vehicle traveling on Interstate 395 crashed through a guardrail and took out a light pole Tuesday night.

ARLINGTON, VA — A vehicle drove over a guardrail on an overpass near the Pentagon and plummeted 50 feet to the ground below.

Arlington County firefighters from stations 5 and 9 responded to a vehicle that had crashed at S. Eads Street adjacent to the Pentagon Reservation on Tuesday night, taking out a light pole in the process, according to a Facebook post by station 5.

Pictures posted by the fire department show a smashed up black car with its airbags deployed sitting under the overpass, and chunks of debris surrounding it.

There was no word on injuries to the occupants.
