Washington Boulevard Over I-66 To See Daytime Lane Closures

Bridge repair work near East Falls Church Metro is set for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to VDOT.

ARLINGTON, VA — Drivers in Arlington should expect daytime lane closures on eastbound Washington Boulevard over I-66 next week as bridge repair work gets underway near the East Falls Church Metrorail station.

Weather permitting, eastbound Washington Boulevard, also known as Route 237, along the bridge over I-66 near the station will have lane closures Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27, between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The work is planned in Arlington and was announced Friday by VDOT's Northern Virginia District.

"Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones," according to the VDOT release. "Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions."

The work zone is near the East Falls Church Metrorail station, a heavily traveled area for commuters and local drivers moving between Arlington and nearby Fairfax County. The notice did not include detours or alternate routes, but VDOT said travelers can check for updates through the state's traffic information services.
